While this may seem like an odd question to ask since the luxury brand from Hyundai has just launched and won’t have its first official model until next year, but there is already been a reveal that will let us have a look at a new model from the newly born luxury brand. What we already know we will see from Genesis is the G80, which will be simply the old Hyundai Genesis with a few upgrades. Recently a sport version of the G80 was shown as well to give us two great models to enjoy, but what’s next from this recently created brand?
The next model from Genesis that we will get to enjoy in 2017 will be the G90. If you’re familiar with the versions that are sold in Korea this will be the equivalent model to the EQ900, but it will be made for North America. With that in mind, here are some things you will want to know about the new G90
A Tech/Luxury Marriage – The brand has promised this car will have all the comforts you could ask for. Expect to see items such as a 22-way power adjustable driver’s seat, Nappa leather, wood and aluminum accents and even a fully power adjustable passenger seat. You will be greeted by a digital center gauge cluster with a seven-inch screen and every control you could imagine from the infotainment system.
Great Performance – This is the first product from Genesis or Hyundai that will have an adaptive suspension and a twin turbocharged engine. You will get to choose from either RWD or AWD and enjoy the performance of the four driving modes, Eco, Smart, Sport and Individual. Using the 3.3-liter engine will give you 365 horsepower and 376 lb.-ft. of torque while the 5.0-liter V8 will offer you 420 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque to give you the power you want.
Safety – Genesis fully expects to receive a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ rating form the IIHS. This car will come with a full suite of active and passive safety items to keep you and your passengers safe inside the vehicle. What you will enjoy on the G90 includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear cross traffic alerts, driver attention alerts adaptive headlights, high beam assistance, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, a head up display and lane keep assistance.
Korean Only Features – You may hear about the Korean model having highway driving assistance and the clinically tested seating system, but these won’t be offered on the US market. It’s too bad because these two features would set the G90 ahead of the Tesla Model S for the features offered, but maybe these will be added later. There really won’t be any reason for us to miss these two features and some of us might even be prone to overriding the clinical seating position in favor of the positon that is most comfortable to our driving habits.
Colors – This new car will be offered in five great colors from Genesis. Too often we see new luxury models that are offered in only three, black, silver or white. It’s nice to see that Genesis will bring in a couple extra colors, although all five colors are of the muted sort, but fit perfectly with the sophisticated nature of the G90. These five colors are Casablanca White, Caspian Black, Manhattan Brown, Santiago Silver and London Gray. This gives you a great choice for your G90 and will give you the ability to make the car your own.
More – As previously announced there will be more cars coming from this newly formed luxury brand. Hyundai fully expects the Genesis name to become the next favorite luxury brand for us to admire and love. We could see a sports coupe that may be called the Vision G which was shown at Pebble Beach and we certainly will have at least one midsized crossover SUV to ensure this new brand will have the right models. So far Hyundai has filed for trademarks on the names GC60, GT60, GV60, GC64, GT64 and G65 to give us an idea of their plans.
