It’s no secret that Lincoln has taken a different stance on luxury than everyone else. While BMW and Cadillac battler it out for the best drives, Mercedes-Benz has the polished style, Volvo has safety licked, Audi offers the finest interiors and Lexus shows up with the most features, Lincoln takes you back to a different time and the original meaning of the term luxury. There was a time when luxury was all about the comfort and creating a lifestyle that the car was part of, but it seems we’ve gotten away from that definition in recent years.
The Lincoln MKZ for 2017 shows up as a smooth ride that will pamper you with features and the comfortable seating you want while gliding over the pavement of whatever road you choose. This car even offers you a hybrid variation to give you the best overall experience on the road, one that allows you to enjoy excellent fuel savings. For 2017 this car adds a new front end that’s inspired by the Continental and a new engine that really adds a massive amount of power. Other new items are the full LED treatments in the headlights and the Driver’s package of features.
Even though Lincoln advertises pure comfort from its vehicles, they do know you want some fun as well. Taking a ride in the MKZ is one that will give you everything you hoped for from the power of the engines to the dynamic torque vectoring control that helps keep the car planted on the road. There are three modes you can choose from for your driving, Comfort, Normal and Sport to give you the ride you’re looking for in a car that offers you the lifestyle differences you’ve been missing with other luxury brands.
Under the hood you will be offered a choice of three different engines two conventional models that make use of a six-speed automatic transmission and a hybrid variation that uses a CVT automatic. The base engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine which offers 245 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque while giving you 21 city/31 hwy mpg in FWD and 20 city/28 hwy mpg in AWD.
Stepping up to the next level you get to enjoy the same engine with a permanent AC synchronous motor which allows for 188 horsepower and 129 lb.-ft. combined. This powertrain ensures you can enjoy 41 city/38 hwy mpg making for a great way to save fuel. The power monster of the group is the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 which brings you 400 horsepower for the AWD models and 350 horsepower in the FWD versions. Both receive the benefit of 400 lb.-ft. of torque and the FWD will give you 18 city/27 hwy mpg while the AWD shows up with 17 city/26 city mpg for your drive.
As a value oriented luxury brand Lincoln fills this car with some great items, even at the base model gives you heated front seats , leather upholstery, an adaptive suspension, LED taillights, an 11-speaker audio system, the Sync 3 infotainment system, an eight-inch display screen, voice recognition software, eight airbags, stability control, the Lincoln SOS Post-Crash Alert System. This is all included on the Premier model giving you one of the most impressive base models ever seen on the market.
Looking to the Select group will add a rearview camera, parking sensors and HD radio. At the other end of the spectrum, the Black Label edition may cost you as much as $61,000 but this is a car that will certainly give you the personal Lincoln touch you’ve always dreamed of.
