10.04.16 - 2017 Dodge Viper SRT

One of the most admired and desired sports cars in the world will finally head to an end which has been discussed for some time. The Dodge Viper has been around for a quarter of a century and will now end its tenure and ride off into the sunset. This car has stood for true American muscle and even when other sports cars were succumbing to the new technology the Viper remained a car that is perfect for the track while using a massive V10 engine that can easily allow the car to be one of the most impressive vehicles on the market today.

With this last year of production for the Viper we will see five special editions made to give us a great way to enjoy the last of the Viper and for those of us lucky enough to purchase one of these special editions a car that is more than just a collectible, but one that will be easily enjoyed on and off the track. Let’s take a good look at these five new special edition vehicles.

The first will be the 1:28 Edition ACR which will be built to commemorate the 1:28.65 lap time of the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca that was run by Randy Pobst. The amazing part of this is that this time shattered the record set by the Porsche 918 Spyder previously. This car will come with all the equipment you could possibly want to have to be able to drive faster. This equipment will include the Extreme Aero Package, carbon ceramic brakes and the massive power from the engine that’s needed. This first of the limited edition models will have only 28 built to make it a seriously limited edition model.

The second of the five models is the Viper GTS-R Commemorative Edition ACR. This will offer you a great looking car that is painted in a classic white color with blue stripes that first showed up in 1998. This color scheme was on the Viper GTS-R GT2 Championship Edition and made to celebrate the fact that Viper won the 1997 FIA GT2 championship. There will be 100 of this particular model built to be a great looking and collectible edition of the car.

Third on the list is the Viper VooDoo II Edition ACR which will come in a sinister look which is all black pant with a graphite racing stripe. This look first appeared as the VooDoo Edition in 2010 and only 31 models that have this color scheme and name will be built.

Up next on the list is the Viper Snakeskin Edition GTC which is based on the touring edition and not a track based model. This car will be one that wears the right look to be a snake as it will wear a snakeskin pattern in green with an SRT stripe that as a snakeskin pattern which will contrast the rest of the car. This is the one that is named for the snake the car is named from and there will be 25 of these built to be the most collectible of all so far.

The final of the five models that will be built is the Dealer Edition ACR which will be only offered through the highest volume Viper dealers. This will be a car that is painted white with a blue center stripe and a red driver’s stripe as it comes with all the performance pieces expected on an ACR model. This model will also be limited to a small number as there will only be 33 models that are built of this Viper.

As we get to enjoy the fact that the Viper is celebrating the final year of production we may feel a bit downhearted to see this car heading off into the sunset for one last ride. As a small glimmer of hope, FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne has already told us he expects the Viper will make a return, but no set date has been set as of yet. Until then, let’s enjoy these five limited edition models that are offered for us right now.
