Upgraded Performance: 2023 Honda Civic Type R

High performance hatchbacks have taken our imagination and run wild with it for many years. The same goes for the new 2023 Honda Civic Type R.

This new version of the performance-oriented Civic gives us the amazing ride and style that we’ve been waiting for. Is this new car worth the wait? We’re going to venture a guess and say that its certainly worth the wait, the cost, and the looks you’ll get when you drive this hot hatch down the road at breakneck speed. The only thing it might not be worth is the ticket, so please keep it under control on public roads.

The Type R Continues the Legacy

The first Type R was the NSX and the R was for Racing. This amazing badge has the reputation for performance in a lightweight hot hatch that’s more at home on the track than on public roads. This amazing car is ready to continue the feeling we get when we see the badge on the front. Honda promises this is the fastest version we’ve ever seen. This car has evolved and its time you got in on the fun.

The 2023 Model is the Fastest FWD Car

The 2021 version of the Honda Civic Type R set the record at the Suzuka Circuit as the fastest FWD car. The model used was Limited Edition version. The 2023 version has already smashed this record, finishing the run around the same course in almost one second less than the 2021 version. We don’t need an AWD setup in this car, its proven to be a top performer without adding power to the rear wheels.

This Honda is the Fastest Manual Transmission Hot Hatch

That’s a mouthful, but its one we’re glad to say. Toyota thought they would have this record for more than a few months when the GR Corolla with a six-speed manual set the record a few months ago. This Honda outruns the GR Corolla and reaches 60 mph only 5.5 seconds. This new Civic Type R is made for driving engagement and fun. It comes with a manual gear box and a limited-slip differential. Forget your goals of an automatic Type R, it’s not coming.

This is the Most Powerful Version

The next time we see a Honda Civic Type R enter a new generation it could be an electric model. That said, this final gas-only model is the most powerful version of the Type R that we’ve seen yet. While we don’t have the exact power numbers, some speculate it could have as much as 317 horsepower, which would be 11 more than the previous version. This is certainly a great way to go out with a bang and give us the car we love to drive.

This Honda is More Powerful Than the Rivals

The rivals are few in the hot hatch market, but they are there. This new Civic delivers impressive power from the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Its more powerful than the GR Corolla and the Hyundai Veloster N. This spiced up performance car is something we want to drive and can’t wait for its arrive in the market. Could the power reach over 320 horsepower? Maybe, but we’ll have to wait and see for sure.

Styling Goes the Distance in the Civic Type R

The previous Honda Civic Type R was polarizing and this new model takes things a little farther. While some might look at it as aesthetically similar to the Civic Si and regular Civic, the hatchback rear is different from both of these models. The Type R has LED headlights and offers looks that might remind some of the R34 Skyline. The lower grille of this hatchback is larger and wider than the previous model and the fastback design gives this amazing machine a look that’s super aggressive.

The Handling is Incredible

When something works great you don’t mess with it. Something the 2023 model of the Type R brings to the market that was part of the 2021 version is the amazing handling. Honda could have added and AWD layout like so many other hot hatches, but instead, stuck with the FWD setup that works extremely well. This car has a stiff suspension, light panels, huge Brembo brakes, and a massive spoiler, all made to improve the handling of a car that has more than 300 horses sent to the front wheels.

Red Covers the Interior

Get ready for a sporty splash of red all over the cabin area of the Honda Civic Type R. This car delivers red seats and red lighting in the dials to give you the look you’ll love when you drive. This version of the Civic is much more dramatic and exciting than the standard models that have a much more subdued look to them. Get in and enjoy the amazing style that surrounds you in this car.

This Type R is a Little More Practical

The size of the 2023 Type R offers more cargo room in the rear than the outgoing model. This makes it a little more practical if you’re using this car as your daily driver. You can fit a few more items in the back, especially when the seats are folded. You might not look at this car as one that brings any form of practicality, but it could become your grocery getter when you need to pick up a few things from the store.

This Honda Won’t Break Your Budget

Its hard to find a new performance car for the price you’ll find for the new 2023 Honda Civic Type R. This car shows up wit ha starting price of $39,000 which is a reasonable price point for this incredible car. You’ll love driving one of the fastest hot hatches in the market, and a car that already broke two records, for the price of this car. It won’t take much for you to enjoy this cutting-edge Honda that is likely the last of its kind.

Will you drive the new 2023 Honda Civic Type R? This could be your chance at having some automotive history in your driveway.
