In recent years, automakers have decided that turbocharging their luxury cars and facing them off against sports cars is the way to create the ultimate ride. We are now at a point where you don’t have to have a sports car to satisfy your need for speed. A performance sedan or coupe, such as the Cadillac ATS sedan, will give many sports cars a run for their money these days. Take a look at some luxury cars with a ton of power.
Cadillac ATS Sedan
You don’t have to go very far from home to find a performance sedan that will give you a thrill behind the wheel. The Cadillac ATS sedan challenges some of the top European performance sedans. Even the base model has a powerful 272 horsepower 2.0-liter engine, but you can also get it with a V-6 that churns out 335 horsepower. All-wheel drive is optional with the Cadillac ATS sedan, and depending on the model year, you can even get it with a six-speed manual transmission to bump up your fun behind the wheel.
BMW M5
There’s plenty of fun to be had with the BMW M5. The base model gets power from a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 that delivers 600 horsepower. This powerhouse works with an eight-speed automatic transmission complete with overdrive. The optional Competition Package turns things up by adding 17 extra horsepower, an upgraded exhaust, and a stiffer suspension. This version of the BMW M5 will rocket to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds.
Mercedes–Benz AMG GT Sedan
The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT sedan has a presence that few other four-door sedans can pull off. The GT43 and GT53 models have more than enough muscle with their 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo engine that puts out 429 horsepower, but if you really want to fly, the GT63 is powered by a 4.0-liter V-8 that makes 575 horsepower. Put this same engine under the hood of the GT63 S, and it pumps out 630 horsepower, which is enough to reach 60 mph in 2.9 seconds.
Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing
The Blackwing version of the Cadillac CTV-5 is one of the most powerful road-worthy Cadillacs you can get, with a 668-horsepower engine that has a top speed of over 200 mph. If this isn’t enough to draw you in, the 3.6-second zero to 60 mph time just might do it. It comes with a six-speed manual transmission, but you can get it with a 10-speed automatic if you prefer. This Caddy will easily face off against the BMW M5 and the AMG GT63 if you want to test out its power.
Audi S8
If you’re looking for a good combination of luxury and performance, the Audi S8 is worth a look. It has a twin-turbo V-8 under its hood that pumps out 563 horsepower, while inside, the cabin is spacious and luxurious with features such as massaging front seats and a high-tech infotainment system. All-wheel drive comes standard with the S8, and Audi tuned the suspension to make it handle corners like a much smaller sports car.
