Introducing the Luxurious 2024 Mazda CX-90: A Game-Changer in SUVs

The new Mazda CX-90 heads to the market for the 2024 model year replacing the outgoing CX-9. This new Mazda SUV could be everything you’re looking for.

Do you want to drive Mazda’s most luxurious SUV? If so, you’ll want to take the new CX-90 out for a ride. This impressive new SUV has a long hood, a spacious three-row cabin, and new powertrains. Admire the gorgeous styling and impressive handling expected of a Mazda SUV. You’ll love the higher trims with upscale features that make you wonder if Mazda succeeded in building a luxury SUV. Let’s dig in and see what the CX-90 brings to the market.

Does the ride reflect the best of Mazda?

This new Mazda SUV brings a long hood and classic lines to the ride, giving you an excellent build that gets you excited for the drive before you ever step inside. The overall ride is firm and delivers the predictable Mazda cornering ability you admire and expect. The Kinematic Posture Control system brings added handling characteristics that apply braking to the inside rear wheel during cornering, which reduces body roll while improving stability on the road. This system makes this three-row SUV playful on any road, which is something you don’t often find.

The CX-90 has plenty of passenger and cargo room

At lower trims, you’ll find seating for up to eight passengers inside the Mazda CX-90. This means you’ve got one more seat than most other midsize SUVs. When you head to the highest trim level, the seating is reduced to six, which enables passengers to spread out during the drive.

The cargo area behind the rearmost seats measures 14.9 cubic feet. This is more than enough for a load of groceries but not much else. With the rear two rows folded, the CX-90 has 75.2 cubic feet of cargo room. While generous, these measurements are less than what you’ll find in the Kia Telluride, which offers 21 cubic feet in the rear and 87 cubes overall.

How much power does this Mazda SUV offer?

If you stick with the 3.3-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine augmented by a mild-hybrid system, you’ll find two different power levels offered. This engine mates with an 8-speed automatic transmission to send power to all four wheels. The base power level for this system is 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque while returning 24 city/28 hwy mpg.

The Turbo S model ups the ante with 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. At this trim level, you’ll have 23 city/28 hwy mpg. This Mazda SUV offers 5,000 pounds of towing capacity at all trims.

Mazda offers its first hybrid powertrain with the CX-90 PHEV. This SUV utilizes a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor and a 17.8-kWh battery pack. This system returns 323 horsepower and enough electric power for short drives.

The PHEV powertrain is offered across three trims, giving you lots of options for power and features in your Mazda SUV.

Does the Turbo S trim offer something special?

The Turbo S trim doesn’t build directly on any of the other trims offered. Instead, this top CX-90 trim has its own unique set of features. You’ll find seven seats, 21-inch alloy wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, a panoramic power sunroof, power-folding side mirrors with reverse tilt down, and additional piano black trim. This trim also includes a wireless phone charger, an 8-way power adjustable passenger seat, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, and memory settings for the driver’s seat and side mirrors.

This top trim also gives you a 12.3-inch color display touchscreen for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. You’ll also enjoy navigation with off-road maps, Sirius XM Traffic and Travel Link, and Mazda Connect apps in the Turbo S.

If you go to the top of the Mazda CX-90 trims, you’ll find a 12-speaker Bose audio system, automatic emergency front braking with turn-across braking, blind-spot assist, adaptive cruise control with speed limit adjust, emergency lane keeping, front and rear parking sensors, and driver monitoring.

Is this Mazda SUV right for you?

When you want to enjoy the most impressive, luxurious, and feature-laden SUV in the Mazda lineup, this is the model you’ll choose. Mazda adds a plug-in hybrid powertrain to the lineup and delivers impressive packages of great features at every trim level.

Will you go to the top Turbo S trim, choose a PHEV model, or select one of the lower trims of this Mazda three-row midsize SUV?
