The Ford Ranger was one of the most popular and most sold trucks of all time but is now a thing of the past. This brings us to the Ranger in question, which isn’t just any Ford Ranger, but one that was built in 1991 and had only twenty versions of it actually built. Why so few, maybe because of the limited market, or possibly because Ford realized it should not have a truck with these features, but either way this Ranger was one of intrigue and interest.
The Ford Ranger in questions is actually the SkyRanger and was built by Ford and modified by American Sunroof Company (ASC) who created the convertible top on this truck. Yes, this Ranger had a convertible top and came across as an interesting truck with the spoiler attached to the bed and the extend cap which gave room for smaller individuals to sit and enjoy the ride. Because there were so few of these made, this truck is a very rare find and is our look at some exclusivity.
The power for this model of the Ranger came in the form of a 4.0-liter four-wheel drive model engine giving the truck some nice power to enjoy and making it a great choice as a truck that would absolutely show off in big style whit the drop top and the additions of the rear window wing and the large downforce creating ornament above the tailgate. The SkyRanger is certainly an interesting find to discuss and since it was only made in 1991 finding one today that has been well-maintained is nearly impossible.
Maybe impossible is too strong a word as the SkyRanger has actually found its way to eBay. Amazing that a vehicle that was built well before the internet was even used publicly has now gotten to this selling site and actually showed up with a price that was better than reasonable as long as this SkyRanger is what the seller says it is. So, if you are looking for something that is a bit different from what you are used to or a model that is a variation on what you already know and love, but maybe a small change made all the difference, don’t be afraid to look in an area where the most common items lay.
