The Chrysler 200 has found itself a bit of a niche in the market. When paired up against its direct competitors, the Honda Accord, Ford Fusion, Hyundai Sonata and Chevrolet Malibu, the 200 offers more for a similar price than all these models. When you choose a 200 that is fully loaded, you reach up as close to a luxury model as you can get without actually having a luxury car, which makes the Chrysler 200 one that is full of everything you want with none of the stuff you don’t need.
Let’s take a look. First of all, the standard offering of the 200 shows up with multi-stage airbags, the Uconnect infotainment system, a USB port, keyless entry, push button starting, stability control, traction control, ABS, Brake Assist, cruise control, an electronic parking brake and must more to be what you get on the base model. This makes for a car that is certainly full of the features you want even at the base price which means you are getting a huge value in this car without ever moving up the trim levels.
If you do decide you want to see what is behind door number two and move up the trim levels you would get some amazing features. These features include the SafetyTec package with adds Advanced Brake Assist, rain-sensing wipers, Full Speed Forward Collison Warning Plus, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Blind Spot Monitoring and Park Assist. The Navigation and Sound Group1 will give you a built in navigation system, HD radio and an upgraded 8.4-inch Uconnect touch screen. The SafetyTec package will cost an additional $1,295 and the Navigation and Sound Group 1 will set you back $1,395, but both are certainly worth the upgrade to a car that is more like a luxury sedan than one that plays in the class its put in.
Since we are already discussing numbers, let’s look at the pricing for this car. The Chrysler 200 LX is the base model and it starts out at $23,000. For all the tech based features listed above that is an amazing price to pay for this car. Moving up to the fully loaded 200C at the top of the spectrum you can pay $38.000 but you are certainly getting a car that is luxury and adds in AWD, a panoramic sunroof and all the features already mentioned along with a few that weren’t mentioned previously.
One of the main areas many car buyers are concerned with is power and acceleration. No one wants to have trouble entering traffic with confidence and the Chrysler 200 has plenty of acceleration for you. The base engine is a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder that gives you 184 horsepower and 173 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is attached to the nine-speed automatic transmission to give you excellent fuel mileage at 23 city/36 hwy mpg. If you have a long commute this is certainly the powertrain you should choose to make sure you have the gas mileage to keep on driving from this car.
If you are looking for a bit of power, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine is the right choice on the Chrysler 200. This engine will give you 295 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque to provide plenty of fun during any drive you take. This engine is also attached to the nine-speed automatic transmission and brings in fuel mileage of 19 city/32 hwy or the FWD model and 18 city/29 hwy on the AWD version. With this V6 under the hood you do have less fuel mileage but certainly a fantastic car to drive with plenty of power to make the experience fun on any road.
Speaking of the drive, what is the experience like in the Chrysler 200? As I said this car is one that is close to luxury. As a heavier car you can feel the weight, which actually feels great when driving, giving you plenty of feedback along the way. When you are looking for a great ride you can set the transmission to sport mode and see how much fun the 200 can actually be. With a sport tuned suspension and a fully engaged steering this car is easy to love on any road and makes you want to find the curves in your area to see how it will perform when challenged.
When I say this car is near luxury, the interior is one place it truly delivers. The seats are comfortable and supportive and a two-toned finish is present inside the car. As you move up the trim levels the seats can be covered in leather and offer power adjustments to put you in just the right position for the drive. The rear seats are smaller, but they are comfortable for most adults to ride along and with the amazing sound from the audio system in a car that offers you a quiet cabin everyone will enjoy singing along with their favorite songs when riding with you.
On the outside the Chrysler 200 has always been a great looking car and it carries that form on today. The profile resembles a coupe which is becoming more popular even with four-door vehicles. The elegant lines and stylish features that are accented in just enough chrome offer a look of a car that truly is luxury from every angle. Toss in a full set of LED headlights and some attractive wheels and this car is appealing from every angle you can think of.
One of the exciting parts of having new vehicles offered each year is the new technology that is put in place to make improvements over the previous year. The Chrysler 200 offers a rearview camera which is now standard on the Limited and S trims, the 200C adds a heated steering wheel and models that have the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen now have Drag and Drop functions for the menu bar. The Pentastar V6 is also now available on the Limited trim to give it even more to love. The 200 is a car that is elegantly styled and beautifully crafted for you to love. Pass over the competition and see what this car has for you to enjoy.
