Hybrids have been growing steadily and should be the bridge between gas and electric vehicles.

It’s not here yet, but more automakers than ever are adding the benefits of over-the-air updates to their vehicles. This is one of the most significant and important automotive trends this year. Instead of visiting a dealership for a software update, they can be sent over the air to the vehicle’s computer system. This means drivers can enjoy the latest technology in their vehicles, unlock features through subscriptions, and avoid the hassle of a dealership visit for most software-based recalls.
Head-up displays are becoming more common
Displaying gauge and navigation information on the windshield through the use of a head-up display is becoming more common. This feature can help reduce the number of times a driver must take their eyes off the road, but it can also serve as another distraction. Whether it’s the integrated dashcam that’s constantly recording the road in front of you or a camera that’s focused on you and your driving habits, we should begin to experience AI-powered cameras that talk to you instead of only offering alerts and warnings on your dashboard. Your car might ask you if you need to take a break, want to stretch your legs or give you reports regarding your driving habits and what you should do to improve during your next drive.
EVs are still growing, so are charging options
Most automakers have spent billions of dollars investing in electric vehicles and will continue to do so. The EV growth pattern is still positive, but charging solutions need to become more universal to make it easier for EV owners to find charging stations. Thankfully, the North American Charging Standard is becoming the norm and could be the universal charging solution for the future. This would mean any EV can pull up to any charging station, plug in, and recharge.
More power
Tim Allen’s character on Home Improvement, Tim Taylor, would be proud to learn that one of the greatest automotive trends is more power. In 2023, horsepower in vehicles was at an all-time high, and with more EVs heading to market, that trend should continue to increase. Most EVs are much more powerful than their gas-powered counterparts, giving drivers the power needed for quick acceleration and moving the heavy electric battery packs found in EVs. This power trend should make any car lover smile and enjoy the latest trends.
