The trio of new trims could be a little confusing. Typically, the base model of any vehicle is simply the vehicle’s name with nothing added. That’s not the case for the new Land Cruiser. The base trim is called 1958 with the Land Cruiser name representing the middle trim level. At the top of the tree, we find the First Edition trim, which suggests a lack of forward thinking on the part of Toyota.
What does each trim of the new Toyota Land Cruiser include?
Land Cruiser 1958
The base, 1958 model of this new Land Cruiser includes a set of round LED headlights, LED fog lights, and a set of 18-inch wheels. The 1958 model also includes an interior build with manually adjustable cloth heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Even at the base model, the Land Cruiser features wireless phone charging and wireless connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard safety features for this new Toyota SUV include automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights.
Going off-road in any Toyota Land Cruiser can be a pleasure. The 1958 model features a rear locking differential, Toyota’s Crawl Control, and a 2.4-kW AC inverter for the accessories you’ll take with you during your off-road adventures.
Land Cruiser
Moving up to the middle trim, the Toyota Land Cruiser has a set of rectangular LED headlights, Rigid LED fog lights that change between white and amber light, and the option of a set of 20-inch wheels. This Toyota SUV has a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, seats covered in faux leather upholstery that are heated, ventilated, and have power adjustments.
This Toyota Land Cruiser can be enjoyed with a Premium package that provides real leather upholstery, adds a 14-speaker JBL sound system, gives you a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, and features a sunroof.
Heading off-road in the Land Cruiser trim adds a Multi-Terrain Select trim to the mix, allowing you to set this Toyota SUV for any terrain in your path. This trim also features an electronic disconnecting front anti-roll bar and a Multi-Terrain Monitor with several camera views to offer a clear look at what’s happening on the trails.
First Edition Trim
Select the top trim and enjoy a set of round headlights in the First Edition model. This trim also includes a standard roof rack, rock rails, and a front skid plate. These items help to make it more trail-worthy than the lower trims. You’ll also see a set of mud flaps behind the wheels, a rear door guard, and a tailgate light. The interior features of the First Edition trim brings the Land Cruiser’s Premium package as standard fare. This trims also includes a special case for your key.
Only 5,000 versions of the First Edition trim will be made, which makes it a slightly limited model. This limitation could mean most Land Cruiser owners are limited to either the 1958 model or the regular Land Cruiser trim.

Seven paint colors are available for this new model including a new color called Meteor Shower. The Trail Dust and Heritage Blue colors come as a two-tone look with a roof that’s painted in Grayscape.
What powertrain is used for the new Land Cruiser?
Every trim level of the 2024 Land Cruiser features a 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a hybrid motor situated between the engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. This SUV is set up with standard 4WD, features a two-speed transfer case, and brings 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque to the mix. The new Land Cruiser can tow up to 6,000 pounds.
Will there be a TRD trim in the future?
Considering the Toyota Land Cruiser is an off-road-ready SUV with a long history of tackling some of the toughest trails, it seems only fitting that a TRD trim could be part of the future of this SUV. Possibly, Toyota will put a TRD trim at the top to replace the First Edition models once all are sold and delivered.
