What’s New with the 2024 Tacoma

What’s New with the 2024 Tacoma

People love the Toyota Tacoma. It’s been around since 1995, and it just continues to grow in popularity. This compact pickup truck packs a big punch when it comes to reliability, you can still find used Toyota Tacoma models with well over 300,000 miles on them. But, if you’re looking for the latest and greatest, the 2024 Tacoma is finally here, and the fully redesigned 2024 has lots of updates inside and out. Here’s what’s new.

Eight Trim Levels

If you’re wondering if you can find a Tacoma that has the features you need, you have plenty of trims to choose from. The 2024 will have eight different trim levels. You’ll find the families SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro, but there are also a couple of new trims. The TRD PreRunner is back with twin-tube shocks, a front lift, 17-inch wheels, and all-terrain tires. At the top of the Tacoma lineup, a new Trailhunter is now king. It has the I-Force Max engine, Bronze-colored forge aluminum upper control arms, 18-inch bronze-colored wheels, and a Bronze Toyota heritage grille. Frame-mounted rock rails also come with this Tacoma, along with a bed utility bar.

New Power For a New Generation

You won’t see the old four-cylinder or V-6 engines under the hood of this Tacoma. It now comes with a new 2.4-liter turbo four-cylinder gas engine. In the base SR trim, this engine works with an eight-speed automatic transmission and delivers 228 horsepower, but the rest of the lineup gets a power boost from this same engine. The available six-speed manual transmission helps it get 270 horsepower, but opting for the eight-speed automatic gets you 278 horsepower. When equipped with the automatic transmission, the new turbo four has the same horsepower as the previous V-6, but the torque is higher.

While this is all good news, what’s even better is the availability of the new I-Force Max hybrid powertrain. It uses an electric motor in addition to the turbo four to generate 326 horsepower.

More Tech To Play With Inside

As soon as you sit down in the new Tacoma, you’ll notice the new tech, and it’s not just about screens and connections. The first thing that will stand out is the IsoDynamic Performance Seat if you have the TRD Pro. It uses an adjustable shock absorber to minimize body sway and head movement when driving over rough terrain at high speeds.

If you like all the technology, you’ll be happy to see the available 14-inch touchscreen that works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 7-inch gauge cluster comes standard, but a 12.3-inch digital screen is available.

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma has lots of new bells and whistles, but if you want to get this iconic pickup truck without breaking the bank, a used Toyota Tacoma is the way to go. Its reputation for reliability means you can find used models that will take you where you want to go for many years and miles.
