Toyota Partners with Project Lead The Way in Kentucky

Project Lead The Way is a nonprofit organization that’s built to provide a transformative learning experience for students prior to college.

This organization works to educate teachers and allow students to take advantage of skill development programs in the fields of computer science, engineering, and biomedical science. The real-world application of the skills developed during these programs is invaluable to the students as they grow and become the adults and leaders that we’ll look to in the future to create the technological breakthroughs that make our lives easier.

Project Lead the Way is Only One Toyota Beneficiary

Toyota has already granted several schools across the country with money to build these programs to develop the workforce of the future. The Toyota USA Foundation is geared toward supporting these programs to make sure students are going to be able to enjoy the education they need to be able to lead the way in the STEM programs that will be used to develop the leaders of the future of the automotive industry. The hope from Toyota is that students from these programs can make it possible for the company to have the technology needed for the vehicles driven on the roads as they grow into the leaders of tomorrow.

The Toyota Investment into Kentucky

Recently, Toyota and Project Lead the Way awarded $150,000 to eleven schools in Central Kentucky to help students prepare for the future. This grand allows the development of student and teacher education in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) which is part of a growing industry. With more jobs coming open and offered in these areas of the market we see a greater need for the development of these programs to develop the skills needed for students to be able to thrive once they enter the adult working world.

Investing in the Future Needs of Toyota

There’s no denying the future of the industry and the world we live in has a lot to do with these four areas of study. The technology we’ll see in our vehicles in the future could be developed by the students who are taking advantage of these programs in order to make sure of the continued learning and development of items and services that make our lives easier on a regular basis. So far, the reception to these programs has been positive and students are able to develop the skills needed for the future.

Widespread Benefits of Project Lead the Way

Even students who won’t go on to work for Toyota or in the automotive industry can benefit from these programs. The STEM programs and the development of the classroom tools that are being offered allow students to learn how to solve problems, think critically, and build team skills that are needed in a variety of industries in the world. The future of our workforce is the students and children of today. While many schools are cutting programs geared toward hands-on learning, Toyota is investing heavily in the future and in this type of education for students from kindergarten up to seniors in high school.
