The Toyota 86 has a lot Going on at Le Mans

As the 86th running of the Le Mans race, the Toyota brand has decided to celebrate with a few special models of the Toyota 86 sports cars.

The upcoming race of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will mark the 86th running of this race. That number wouldn’t normally be significant to any company as it’s simply the number between 85 and 87 in order, but the fact is, this is a significant number for ToyotaThe company will enter the race with a pair of TS050 Hybrid LMP1 cars to take to the track and see if they can make it to the front of the pack to finish first, but these cars aren’t the models of significance for Toyota and this race.

This number is significant and a model that most of us think of as a fun and active roadster that can offer the feelings and the qualities we want when we drive on the road. The UK arm of the brand has created three special models that can be right for the drive and give us a look at the creativity of this part of the Toyota company as they will be presented before the race.

The Three Special Toyota 86 Models

With three different models of the Toyota 86 offered for us to take a look at and enjoy we see each one of these cars pays homage to a race car from years ago to let us have a great look and the car that can bring back memories. There’s a red and white model that’s been created to look like the Toyota TS020 GT-One that was iconic in 1998 on the track. There’s also a blue Casio model that’s made to look like the Toyota TS010 which had an incredible 3.5-liter V10 engine under the hood with 700 horsepower for the drive and the third model is a red, black, and white model that’s a recreation of the current Toyota TS050 Hybrid that will be on the track.

While Toyota came close to winning the Le Mans in 2016 the brand lost a heartbreaker to Porsche when the TS050 lost power completely before crossing the finish line. The feeling from Toyota is that they stand a great chance of winning the race this year and showing how they can build a race car. Right now, the Toyota cars are the only ones in the LMP1-H hybrid class which mean they should be able to at least win for the class, but the goal is much greater than this.

The 2018 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place starting on June 16 to give us a look at a race that has been one of the toughest and most prestigious in the racing world. Let the racing begin. Take a look at the video below to see what the three amazing Toyota GT86 models will look like when they show up at the track.
