Muscle Rarity You're Sure to Love

Some cars were built for a very specific reason; to drive fast. These cars of the olden days are called muscle cars and some of them are not only built in small numbers but also built with the power you wanted. This makes this collection of amazing cars some of the most impressive American Muscle Cars to ever prowl the streets. Take a look and be amazed:

1969/1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 – Still considered one of the most potent muscle cars of its time this car was built to allow the entry into NASCAR for the Torino. This car offered a package that added to the price of the base model but brought drivers a 375 horsepower engine that was actually producing nearly 100 more horsepower than that but insurance companies didn’t need to know about this added performance.

Studebaker Super Lark – We don’t often associate Studebaker with muscle cars, but the Super Lark used a 289-ci engine that could reach sixty mph in only seven seconds and had a top speed of 130 mph. This engine produced 335 horsepower when the supercharger was added to this engine to give you more of what you wanted from under the hood of this rare and beautiful beast.

1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Drag Pack – There were many combinations of Mustangs over the years and this was one that gave you the fastback look and the 429-ci Super Cobra Jet engine with a Drag Pac. This made it possible for you to drag race this car and led the way to the finish line in a car that was only made in about 500 units in total.

1970 American Motors Rebel Machine – AMC built a lot of duds, but it got this car right. This was a beautiful muscle machine with a 390-ci engine that was able to complete a quarter mile in the fourteen-second range. This car could even be tuned to drop this time a little bit and make it easy for a drag racer to have a lot of fun and show off what the Rebel could do.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO ZL1 – Here is another version of a car that was smaller than what the engine called for and we certainly didn’t mind. This car was one that offered a 427-ci engine that could produce massive power and give you the ride you were after. Only 69 of these cars were built and most went directly to the drag strip to show off.

1962 Pontiac Catalina Super Duty – Pontiac was one of the most acclaimed names in NASCAR at the time and it was also part of the NHRA circuit. This car used a 421-ci engine and offered more power than a car this size should. This was one of the cars that could run the quarter mile and reach the twelve-second range at a time when that kind of speed was mostly unheard of.

1967 Dodge Coronet W023 – This was a larger race car and it still offered an excellent performance at the drag strip. This car was offered with impressive power to give you the ride you wanted and a Hemi engine that was admired. This was a rare car with only 55 models built and used for the purpose of heading to the track for a ton of fun.

1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda Hemi Super Track Pack – The Chrysler 426-ci Hemi engine found its way into this car and made it a car we still admire today. The Super Track Pack was able to give the car more performance and saved some weight to make sure this car could be even faster. There weren’t many of these built because the EPA spoiled the fun only a short time later.

1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt – This was a car that was built only to be able to compete in NHRA competitions. This car was offered only a small number but it used a 427-ci engine under the hood that was called a high rise that was topped with two 4-bbl carburetors. The 1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt could reach the quarter mile mark in less than twelve seconds and later models were able to make the run in less than ten.
