2017 GMC Terrain: Luxury Possibilities in This Class

09.01.16 - 2017 GMC Terrain

What do you think of when you hear the names Subaru Forester, Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4? While all three of these are worthy competitors to the GMC Terrain they don’t have what the Terrain has to offer in this class; a luxury possibility. The long lauded and admired Denali trim is only offered from GMC and the Terrain has the advantage of being able to reach up and give you the high class interior you want on a vehicle that’s made for the rugged outdoors as much as it’s made to tote the kids to the soccer games.

For 2017 the Terrain offers more than just the highest trim, there is a new package called the Nightfall package that offers monochromatic looks and a unique set of wheels and an exterior that come in four colors: Onyx Black, Summit White, Graphite Grey and Crimson Red. This added package along with the availability of a step up engine in a wonderful midsized crossover SUV make the Terrain one of the most attractive SUVs you can find on the market to drive.

When you step inside to drive the Terrain you find a cabin that’s quiet and keeps you comfortable. Step on the gas and let the Terrain take you on an adventure that takes full advantage of the amazing suspension and steering systems aboard the vehicle that are perfect for you to drive out in the wilderness or for running errands around town. The towing capacity is 3,500 pounds, giving you the ability to bring a bit more gear than you would otherwise have with you. Even when towing the Terrain is smooth and enjoyable on and off the road to give you the response you want and the ride you need to make every journey one in which you love the ride as much as the destination.

Even though the Terrain is one of the smallest GMC models it still carries on with the distinctive exterior styling that we’ve come to love. This style gives it a rugged and bold appearance that’s contrary to the other vehicles in this class, making it one of the most attractive vehicles on the market. One of the features you will love the most on the Terrain is the movable second row of seats. This is a row of seats that move forward and back a full eight inches, allowing for greater cargo space when needed or maximum legroom when desired.

The GMC Terrain offers you two engines to choose from which more than what you have with most SUVs in this class is. The base engine is a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine which shows up with 182 horsepower and 172 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine, and the larger one, is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission to deliver 21 city/31 hwy mpg in FWD setup or 20 city/28 hwy mpg when the AWD is present on the vehicle. Moving up to the larger engine gives you more power and more off road capabilities. This engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that has 301 horsepower and 272 lb.-ft. of torque. Using the same transmission you will enjoy 17 city/24 hwy mpg in FWD or 16 city/23 hwy mpg in AWD models.

The standard offerings for the Terrain include 17-inch wheels, a rearview camera, a touchscreen infotainment screen, heated outside mirrors, a USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, XM Satellite radio, OnStar with 4G LTE Wi-Fi, active noise cancellation technology sliding rear seats and plenty of cargo space to allow you to head out for a weeklong adventure in the wilderness if you desire.

Looking to the optional features you will find leather seating, a navigation system, forward collision alerts, blind spot detection, lane departure warnings, a second row entertainment system, a ten-gigabyte music storage hard drive, a Pioneer audio system and a programmable rear liftgate.
