Mitsubishi Outlander

Mitsubishi has been a little silent in the automotive industry in past years, but they expect to change that with the announcement of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander, which will be debuted at the New York Auto Show. Mitsubishi claims the new model will feature over 100 engineering and design improvements, refined handling/throttle response, and “a more eloquent yet functional interior space.”

The exterior of the the 2016 Outlander is only a small update of the original 2012 version, but the interior of the vehicle has been completely revamped. Exterior updates include more angular headlamps, new twin-slit radiator grille, and chrome accents. New alloy wheel designs and paint colors will be available on the 2016 model as well. Outlander should be available for consumers to purchase late 2015.

Interior updates for the Outlander are expected to include new trim levels and colors as well as reduced road noise. It is yet to be determined as to which infotainment system will be used for the 2016 model, or whether it will be larger than the current one. Although little to no drivetrain changes are expected to be made, the minor changes are expected to reduce emissions as well as fuel economy. Engines that are expected to be available for Outlander are the 2.4L four cylinder and the 3.0L V6.

Estimated MSRP for the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander are expected to be around the $25,000 price range, which will put it in line to compete with the Kia Sorento and Toyota RAV4. Outlander is expected to be a little sportier for 2016 in order to keep up with the competition and there is also an electric version of the Outlander that will be available in the later version of the 2016 model year.
