Cadillac, a company known for luxury, innovation, and prestige, will introduce their new vehicle at the New York Auto Show. The Cadillac CT6 will be a full-sized luxury sedan, which will bring the Cadillac badge back into the spotlight. The Escalade has been the crown jewel for Cadillac in past years, but the CT6 is shaping up to give Cadillac a new shining star in its luxury lineup of superior vehicles. CT6 is edgy and angular, preparing to compete with competitors such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
Estimated MSRP for the 2016 Cadillac CT6 is around the $70,000 mark ranging up to $110,000 and sport an aluminum heavy structure for the body. The new flagship vehicle is expected to go on sale in late 2015 as a 2016 model for Cadillac. The Omega, an all new rear-drive vehicle architecture will be used as the frame for the CT6. CT6 has been in development since 2012 and GM is excited to have a new flagship vehicle for Cadillac, which hasn’t occurred in three years.
Privacy and security have been heavy topics of discussion in recent years. Revelations of government interference and big business hacks have many people skeptical about putting their personal information online, yet the world of eCommerce continues to grow. There’s a safer, more useful side to all of the “big data” that’s floating out there. The car business is ideal for merging consumer information with proper advertising.
Targeting has held a negative connotation for some time. Google in particular has been accused by everyone from competitors and consumer watchdogs to entire governments of taking their data collection and usage too far. Just because we receive an email about Coach Bill Belichick’s thoughts about conspiracy theories doesn’t mean that we’re interested in buying a Coach purse.
Mitsubishi has been a little silent in the automotive industry in past years, but they expect to change that with the announcement of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander, which will be debuted at the New York Auto Show. Mitsubishi claims the new model will feature over 100 engineering and design improvements, refined handling/throttle response, and “a more eloquent yet functional interior space.”
The exterior of the the 2016 Outlander is only a small update of the original 2012 version, but the interior of the vehicle has been completely revamped. Exterior updates include more angular headlamps, new twin-slit radiator grille, and chrome accents. New alloy wheel designs and paint colors will be available on the 2016 model as well. Outlander should be available for consumers to purchase late 2015.
Minivans have for many years been the vehicle of choice for growing families to offer the security of the safety offered for all rows of seats. We have all felt safe and secure on the road in a minivan knowing these vehicles were built to help keep our loved ones secure in case of a collision and offer the features needed to help avoid possible damage with on board warning and signals to let us know we might be heading into a dangerous place with the van. What if the feeling of security was taken away from the minivan?
In recent months the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) tested four minivans in the small overlap front crash test with some very disturbing results. For the vehicles we have all utilized for decades as the right and safe family hauler, four minivans were tested and all four performed fairly poorly in the test. In fact, three of the four were rated at poor rating and the four gained and acceptable rating, but for a vehicle that is meant to carry the precious cargo of the future of our families even an acceptable rating is just not good enough.
Hyundai seems to be reshaping the auto world by putting more features in their cars for a better price than most of the competition. The Azera is no exception to this rule for Hyundai and enters the market as a mid-sized luxury sedan at a price many can afford for their daily driver. Offering great power and fuel economy along with industry leading safety features the Azera makes an impressive choice for any shopper who is looking for a great car to drive and impress their friends, family and themselves.
Because the Azera is from Hyundai and not one of the mainstream luxury makers this car is put in the class with the Honda Accord, Toyota Avalon, Buick LaCrosse and Nissan Maxima which makes it an almost unfair competitor with all its great features and equipment along with the performance numbers that put others to shame. For this model year the Azera adds a ton of great safety features and has the packages offered on last year’s model put into standard equipment for different trim levels. In addition to this the Azera adds a hands-free Smart Trunk Opener available at Hyundai dealers and a new eight-inch LCD navigation and multimodal interface with the integration of Google POI and Apple’s Eyes-Free Siri.
Calling this motorcycle a dirtbike is most likely an insult, but it’s certainly not intended to be. The BMW R 1200 Adventure Motorcycle is at the height of riding for motorcycle riders who would like the ability to have their bike perform both on the road and off. This motorcycle is made to give you that and much more. The bike is built to be comfortable to ride, allowing you to ride great distances without stopping, and gives a high end performance that is needed when leaving the paved road for a desert run, mountain pass, or just taking the bike to the beach for the day.
At a price of more than $20,000 the R 1200 asks a steep price, but gives back the performance needed to enjoy some high ranging adventures. Currently this motorcycle is only commercially available in the European markets, but can be specially requests for those in the U. S. who want one. Regardless of the price, the R 1200 Adventure Motorcycle allows adventure on two wheels to be a regular occurrence rather than a dream, giving anyone willing to buy one the opportunity to head out for some remote location and enjoy the peacefulness of the wilderness.
The Jeep Patriot has made its way into the hearts and minds of many Jeep owners over several years. Even though the current model is aging, it offers a great value and is the least expensive SUV on the market at its base price. As a 2015 Kelley Blue Book Five-Year Cost to Own Award Winner, the Jeep Patriot is a great choice, but needs some upgrading to be in an acceptable range of equipment and comfort. The base model is very much a stripped down version, but add a few great features by climbing the trim levels and you can have a Patriot that offers some exceptional off road ability as well.
Showing up in the class with the Subaru Forester and Mazda CX-5 the Patriot offers better off road ability than both of these models. Unfortunately, and due in part to the need for a remade model, the Patriot does not offer the fuel mileage that is desired on SUVs of this size. For 2015 the Patriot adds a new Eco Green paint color and a Garmin Navigation system on the Latitude model. The removable flashlight as been replaced by an actual dome light as well.
When Ford unleashed its own surprise at the Detroit Auto Show in January, showing off the new Ford GT sports car that is simply an amazing machine that looks sleek, stylish, fast, gorgeous and simply ready to take to the track we thought that might be all they were going to give us this year. Quite honestly, that would have been plenty, a new sports car built with the name that was synonymous with Ford Racing for such a long and storied time in racing history. Now it seems the Ford GT might take on a whole new face and create an even bigger buzz.
Talks are already happening to lead us to believe the Ford GT might just turn up at LeMans with additions and tuning from Forza to make a car that will seriously scream around the tracks of the world and take the racing world by storm. Seeing a Ford GT done up with Forza trimming will just make the other cars at LeMans all turn green with envy (not really) and be ready to forfeit the race to the Ford GT, which should show up as one of the most powerful cars on the track.
